Running to Five British GT Circuits for Mental Health in Motorsport

This year I’m taking on a running challenge to raise money for the BRDC Motor Sport Charity, supporting mental health and wellbeing within the motorsport community.

Over the course of the British GT season, I’ll be running 405 miles to five circuits on the championship calendar, completing ultra-distance routes ranging from 60km up to 186km, often over multiple days in the lead up to race weekends.

Why This Challenge Matters

Motorsport is a high-performance environment where long hours, constant travel and the pressure to deliver results are part of everyday life.

Behind every race weekend is a huge amount of work from the people who make the sport possible. While the focus is often on performance on track, the wellbeing of those working across the sport is just as important.

The BRDC Motor Sport Charity already provides support and resources for BRDC members who may be facing mental health challenges. The aim of this challenge is to help expand that support so it can also reach drivers, engineers, mechanics and team members across the wider motorsport paddock.

The Challenge

I’ll be running to five circuits on the British GT Championship calendar, covering ultra-distance routes from 60km up to 186km. In total, the challenge will see me cover 405 miles on foot, arriving at each circuit in the days leading up to the race weekend.

Each route will bring its own challenges — long days on the road, changing weather conditions, fatigue and the mental challenge that comes with covering such distances.

While the distances will be demanding, the purpose behind the challenge is simple: helping raise awareness and funds to support mental health in the motorsport community.

Supporting Mental Health in Motorsport

Mental health conversations in sport have become more open in recent years, but there is still more to be done, particularly in environments where pressure and performance are such a big part of the culture.

By supporting this challenge, you’ll also be supporting the work of the BRDC Motor Sport Charity to expand mental health support beyond its membership and into the wider motorsport community.

How You Can Help

If you’d like to support the challenge, any donation would be hugely appreciated.

Every contribution will help the BRDC Motor Sport Charity continue its work supporting people in motorsport who may be facing mental health challenges.

I’ll also be sharing updates throughout the season as I make my way to each circuit.

Thank you for your support.
